Orthodontics is a three-year specialisation after the dental degree. At Vimalai, your case is assessed and treated by Dr. Gananjay Patil, MDS — Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics.

Most people who walk in don't actually know whether they need braces, aligners, or neither. The first visit settles that — with an examination, records and a straight answer, including when the right answer is no treatment at all.
Problems assessed and treated here include crowding, spacing, deep bite, open bite, crossbite and protruding teeth, alongside implants, root canal treatment and crowns & bridges.
Degrees and membership as listed on Dr. Patil's Practo profile.

Full guideFig. 03 — The method
Four stages, in order, for braces and aligners alike. Skipping the first two is how teeth end up straight but wrong — planned movement is the whole point of seeing a specialist.
Examination, photographs and records. What is actually wrong — teeth, bite, or both — is pinned down before anything is recommended.
The movement is mapped tooth by tooth, with honest timelines and a written estimate. You decide with the full picture in front of you.
Brackets and wires, or a staged series of aligners — adjusted and reviewed at regular visits as the plan plays out.
Teeth drift back without retention. Retainers hold the finished position — the step that makes the other three permanent.

It depends on your case — how much movement is needed, which appliance suits it, and how long treatment runs. After your assessment you receive a plan and an estimate in writing, before you decide anything. More cost answers →
Both move teeth; neither suits every bite. Braces handle the widest range of cases and never come out. Aligners are near-invisible and removable, but only work if worn 20–22 hours a day. The assessment decides — compare the treatments →
