Dr. Gananjay Patil, BDS, MDS — Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics. Vimalai is a specialist-led clinic: the orthodontist who assesses you is the one who plans and reviews your treatment.
Every orthodontist is first a dentist (BDS). Orthodontics then adds a three-year full-time specialisation (MDS) in moving teeth and correcting bites — growth, biomechanics and finishing. Any dentist may fit braces; a specialist is trained for the cases where the bite, not just the alignment, is the problem.
It depends on the case — how much movement or work is needed, which appliance or system suits it, and how long treatment runs. After an assessment you receive the plan and the estimate in writing, before you decide. The treatment pages list the specific factors for braces, aligners and implants.
Most cases run 12–24 months, with review visits every 4–6 weeks. Simple cases can finish sooner; complex bite corrections take longer. Your assessment gives an individual estimate — and the honest kind, not the shortest sellable one.
Almost certainly not. Adult orthodontics is routine; what decides suitability is the health of your teeth, gums and supporting bone — all checked at assessment. Teeth can be moved at 16 or at 60 by the same biology.
20–22 hours — out only for eating, drinking anything but water, and brushing. This is the single biggest factor in whether aligner treatment succeeds, and it's why the clinic recommends braces instead when that commitment sounds unrealistic.
The placement is done under local anaesthesia, so the procedure itself is painless. Some soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and managed with routine medication. Most patients are surprised by how uneventful it is compared to the anticipation.
Yes. Alongside specialist orthodontics, the clinic provides root canal treatment and crowns & bridges — so a tooth that hurts, not just one that's crooked, can be treated here too.
A conversation about what's troubling you, a full examination, and records if they're needed — photographs and X-rays where they genuinely inform the decision. You leave knowing what the clinic found, what your options are, and what each would cost. Bring any previous dental X-rays or records if you have them, plus a list of medicines you take and any allergies.
